Several years ago, Paul D. Marks asked me to write a short story for a private eye anthology he was putting together, COAST TO COAST: PRIVATE EYES FROM SEA TO SHINING SEA. I’d never written a private eye story before, but I had a character in a mystery I was writing set in DC that I could borrow and an idea. The end result was a story called, “Life Goes to the Dogs” about a bad divorce and a man who desperately wants his dog back.
Stories in the anthology have been nominated (and won) many awards this year. And now the anthology itself has been nominated for an Anthony Award! I’m thrilled to have been a part of it. And forced to go out of my comfort zone to try something new.
