Inaugurations, protests and other distractions from writing

My grandfather was a journalist from the 1930’s to the late 1960’s. After my grandmother died, we went through all her papers and found some wonderful photos of my grandfather. A cousin recently posted this one on Facebook; it’s my grandfather at the inauguration of Truman. As she pointed out, he had a very good seat!

No matter what your politics are this week, I think you can be excused for finding the hand off of presidential power and the current political uncertainty distracting. What kind of president will Trump be? We can only guess, really. Other presidents have tried to push through their agenda or set a tone, only to find history pushing them somewhere they never expected. A war. A stock market collapse. A disease outbreak.

So this week I’m attempting to step away from social media again and return to the page. My manuscript. I’m trying to focus on what I can control — my writing.
